Reform for True Government Ownership
Government Ownership
Maine is one of the few states that benefits from a broader range of candidates for consideration — thanks to Rank Choice Voting (RCV). While the citizens of other states are limited to the traditional offerings by the dominant political parties, Mainers have the opportunity to select a candidate who represents not only their ideas and goals, but someone who might also bring a more balanced approach to the one-sided agendas that undermine the principles of democracy and “reasonableness”, which were essential in establishing our nation.
As an independent candidate, I want to represent the state as a “whole,” but diverse population with each voter holding a right to government ownership. If elected, I intend to follow an executor-style approach to representing Mainers that is similar to the manner in which legal executors manage property fairly on behalf of many beneficiaries. As an executor-styled representative, I would be duty-bound to hear all sides of an issue and work towards mutually beneficial resolutions, but only after considering the rationale and strength of opposing arguments and opinions. As a Senator for Maine, I would also advocate for constitutional reform for the owners of government to achieve joint- ownership objectives such as increased competency, transparency, efficiency, and accountability in our federal government.
Balancing Issues
Social Security
I oppose raising the eligibility age to 70 years old for social security benefits. I am in favor of hearing arguments for and against raising the percentage of taxable income to maintain the trust fund as well as allowing individuals to opt out of the standard federal system for private, but highly regulated commercial trust funds.
Immigration
I am in favor of regulated immigration intended to promote the economy and to maintain an appropriate workforce. I am against unregulated immigration that burdens the taxpayers with no foreseeable benefits. I would like to hear arguments for and against a mortarium on certain categories of professional immigration visas in favor of promoting domestic training and recruitment programs. I am in favor of humane and effective border controls along with reasonable sanctuary allowances.
Healthcare
I am in favor of more stringent prosecution of fraud with heavier fines and mandatory prison time that is exempted from executive clemency powers. I am in favor of regulations meant to increase competition in the healthcare industry for categories of healthcare services where fraud and abuse are regularly observed and documented. I would like to hear arguments for and against limiting participation in healthcare funding for individuals who abuse their benefits.
Environment
We have one planet with no viable “backups”. In terms of cold hard logic and risk management, we cannot afford to gamble with the fate of our only planet. I am in favor of many measures to limit fossil fuels and promote renewable energy. I am also open to hearing scientific-based rationale on the reasonable methods and means to achieve a more sustainable energy policy for the future of our species.
Gun Control
I am in favor of registering private firearms sales and reasonable “red flag” laws to remove weapons from individuals deemed “mentally unstable” through a due process system. I am against punishing law-abiding firearms owners.
